After a couple of months of trails, I deleted the resonator in favour of a straight 3.5" scavenger pipe. It gave it a bit more of a growl. If you can get a system built and use the Magnaflow muffler, mine is 5"x 11"x 22", it should have a good sound. A 3" pipe system should also be nice for airflow.
MagnaFlow, an aftermarket exhaust manufacturer, says that its customers can expect horsepower gains of around 10 percent (which is a pretty commonly-quoted figure).
